Tara Hamid, 22, was charged with first, second and third-degree murder and was being held in the county jail on $5 million bail, police said. Her attorney declined to comment at a news conference.
Grief counselors were set up at the school to offer counseling for some of the survivors and survivors’ families, school Superintendent John Delaney said. Classes that were scheduled to open Monday were canceled, with no word on when classes will resume.
Kieran Nicholson, 20, said he was watching the news when the shooting began. He said that, like many people, he was confused but not surprised by what had happened.
“Just because something happens to someone else, doesn’t mean nothing bad is going to happen to us, either,” Nicholson said as he stood in front of his sister’s apartment building, where the shooting took place. “It’s scary.”
“I was really surprised because I knew they’d be doing a press conference on Monday or Tuesday…. But honestly, it’s scary,” he added.

Michael said he was shot in the stomach from the back seat and lost sight of his girlfriend until the attacker pulled back and opened fire. He said he heard four shots, and then a man yelled, “That’s it, shoot them all!”
“I didn’t know what else could have been done because nobody seemed to leave,” Michael said. “I did my girlfriend and then I ran.”
Noone is in custody. At one point, several other cars were seen leaving the school with several men in them, including at least two with guns.
As of 3 p.m., officers were still canvassing the area, said U.S.C. Police Chief Frank Wiley II, who said he doesn’t have further information due to the ongoing investigation.
Michael, who still has his phone, said he saw people run
